2018 World Cup: Say hello to Achilles the 'psychic' cat

  • Print

WITH the 2018 World Cup just hours away from kicking off, football fans all over the world are getting psyched as all eyes are set on host Russia.

However, football players are not the only ones getting the attention.

If before this we had Paul the Octopus predict the outcome of games, this year, a furry little psychic is planning on taking the spotlight.

Known as "Achilles", it is a deaf, white cat and was said to have predicted the winners accurately during the 2017 Confederations Cup, according to the BBC.

For the opening game between Russia and Saudi Arabia today, the furry feline has picked the home team to emerge victorious.

The BBC said Achilles selects winners by picking from two bowls of food which have been marked with flags from the teams playing.

With the game set to kick off at 11pm (Malaysian time) later, we'll just wait and see if our little furry creature will be able to match Paul the Octopus' predicting skills.

Even if it doesn't, who can say no to a cute white cat? We'll all just hail Achilles anyway.- NST Online
