Journeys to be hassle-free in Eid: IGP

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Mohammad Javed Patwary said coordinated initiatives have been taken to make journeys of Eid holidaymakers hassle-free and ensure their overall security.

The IGP made the remarks while answering the questions of the journalists after inaugurating the Police Control Room at the Chandna-Chaurasta area in Gazipur on Wednesday noon.Javed Patwary said district police, highway police and reserve police have been engaged to ensure easy exit from Dhaka.

Control rooms have been set up at different places. Besides, watchtowers and check-posts have also been set up, said the IGP. "We've taken all the initiatives so that homebound people can reach their destinations without any fear," he said.

The IGP also said passengers should be aware about 'malam party' (dope gang) and muggers on the highways.  Highway Police DIG Atiqul Islam, Police (Dhaka Divisional) DIG Abdullah Al Mamun, Additional DIG Anwar Hossain, highway police SP Md Shafiqul Islam, Gazipur Police Superin-tendent Mohammad Harun-Ar-Rashid, District Detective Police OC Mohammad Amir Hossain, Joydebpur Police Station OC Aminul Islam, Special Branch Inspector of the District Superinte-ndent of Police Mominul Islam were also present there among others.
