Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisting local cautionary signal number three as the deep convection is continuing over North Bay and adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh.

"Monsoon is strong over North Bay. Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country," said a met office bulletin here yesterday. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Under the influence of heavy (44-88mm) to very heavy (89mm) rainfall with gusty or squally wind is likely to occur over Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions during the next 24 hrs commencing from 11 am today, said another weather bulletin. Due to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of Chattogram division.

Besides, the met office also predicted light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind and lightning flashes at most places over Barishal, Chattogram, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions, at many places over Dhaka, Khulna and Rangpur divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi division with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country in next 24 hours as of 9 am tomorrow. Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period.

The maximum temperature was recorded 37.4 degrees Celsius yesterday at Jashore in Khulna division and today's minimum temperature 24.5 degrees Celsius at Rangamati and Cumilla in Chattogram division.
