Journalist Habibur Rahman's third death anniv today

The third death anniversary of journalist Habibur Rahman, Ekushey Padak winner and former advisory editor of Daily Ittefaq, will be observed today (Thursday). He was Chairman of Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) and President of Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ).

He was jailed for participating in the anti-autocratic movement of 1990. Habibur Rahman started his career in journalism through Daily Sangbad in 1963.

He worked for Dainik Poygam and Dainik Azad in 1964. He joined Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah's newspaper Daily Ittefaq in 1965. He held the post of advisory editor in Daily Ittefaq when he died.

Habibur Rahman was born in 1935. The government awarded him Ekushey Padak for his outstanding contribution in journalism. He passed away on 14 June 2015.
