30 held including two Jamaat men
Police, in special drives arrested 27 persons including two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami from different areas in Dinajpur in last 12-hour ending at 8am on Tuesday morning. Law enforcers also recovered 173 bottles of Phensidyl during the drives. Police said they were picked up from different areas of the district.
During the drives, Dinajpur Sadar police arrested six persons including two activists of Jamaat-E-Islami from Kornai village under Sadar upazila around 7am, Birganj Thana police arrested two persons, Khansama Thana police arrested one person, Bochaganj Thana police arrested one person, Chirirbandar Thana police arrested four persons, Parbatipur Thana police arrested two persons, Nawabganj Thana police arrested one person, Kaharole Thana police arrested three persons, Ghoraghat Thana police arrested two persons, Phulbari Thana police arrested two persons and Biral Thana police arrested three persons. Several cases, including charges of subversive activities, are pending with different police stations against the arrested persons, the sources added.
Meanwhile, members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive detained three drug traders with 173 bottles of Phensidyl around 11pm from Hili Railway Station in Hakimpur upazila of the district. Later, the detained persons were handed over to the Hakimpur Thana police, BGB said. The arrested persons were sent to jail.
