I have never faced casting couch: Jaya
Jaya Ahsan never had to create any personal relation with any of the filmmakers or producers. She had become a reliable actress for both Bangladesh and Kolkata. All the success she had gained, she did it with her hard work and intelligence and thus has been able to avoid any casting couch.
This popular actress recently became a showstopper at a fashion show. The fashion show was a part of the launching program of the world's longest Lehenga Saree presentation and Eid collections. The program was held on May 13, at 7:30pm at Prem's Collections Ltd, in the cities Gulshan area.
Harsh Vardhan Shringla, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, attended as the Chief Guest while Heartthrob Actress of two Bengal, Jaya Ahsan was present as the special guest. Top models, celebrities, distinguished guests; print and electronic media representatives attended the program.
She was the center attraction of the program as she walked on wearing the longest lehenga of the world. Her lehenga saree was almost 400feet long. Beside her, other ramp models showcased different designed dress in three cues.
On the other hand, this year's 2018 Cannes Film Festival was the first to happen after the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse allegations came out and the 82 women participating in the protest called for equal pay and equal representation in the film industry. After the fashion show, Jaya Ahsan opened up about casting couch in a press conference.
She said, "If any actor tries to make a shortcut to the success, he/she may face casting couch very often. My plan was really different. I went ahead very slowly. I came in this position not by running but by stepping very steadily and slowly, with experience."
"When I went to Kolkata to work, I was already an established actress in Bangladesh. So I never had to face any difficulties over there," she added.
Although she agrees that casting couch exist but she never had to face such thing. "Obviously there are casting couch in the industry. Every film industry has that. But I never had to face that because I did not rush to my fame," said she.
On her work front, Jaya is spending very busy time in both Bangladesh and Kolkata. She is working in Bijoya, a sequel to National Award winning film Bishorjon. Jaya informed that very soon she will leave country to take part in the shooting. After that she will fully concentrate on Debi, a film produced by her own production company.
