I'm more selective in films: Kushum
Actress and model Kushum Sikder, who has won the National Film Award 2016 in best actress category for her acting in Bangladesh-India joint venture film Shankhachil, said she is selective when it comes to films or drama.Kushum started her acting career on the small screen but she always has been choosy in terms of her project. "Bangladeshi people are now leaning on contents. They now watch foreign channels more than local TV channels because the story and the contents are strong in foreign channel programs, so, I try to be selective when I work, no matter if that's TV drama or film," said she.
Kushum shared the best actress award with Nusrat Imrose Tisha. "I am honored that my hard work has been recognized. Winning a National Film Award is indeed a great inspiration for any actor," said Kushum. "Typical films or TV shows now don't attract viewers.
I will continue my hard work if I am offered good roles in future," she added.
Kushum came into spotlight after winning Lux Anondodhara Miss Photogenic 2002. Since then she has acted in numerous acclaimed drama serials like Tin Purush (2003), Shawla (2004), Meghbalika (2005), Noukadubi (2005) and others.
Shankhachil is the third film of Kushum. She made her silver screen debut in Khalid Mahmood Mithu's National Film Award winning film Gohine Shobdo in 2010. Kushum won Meril-Prothom Alo Award as the best female actress in 2012 for her acting in her second film Laal Tip.
Besides, she has bagged many prestigious awards such as Fashion Model Award of Shako Telefilm in 2002, Dhaka Cultural Reporters Unity Showbiz Award for best model in 2006, Lux Channel-i Performance Award for best model in 2007 and so on.
