Road accident kills 2

Two persons, including a Jubo League leader, were killed in a road accident at Fakirerhat point on the Mithapukur-Fulbari regional highway under Mithapukur upazila on Monday, police said. "The accident occurred when a private car hit an aged person sitting by the roadside, overturned and hit a roadside house at 9 am," Sub-inspector (SI) of Mithapukur Thana Ashish Kumar said.

"Aged person Alef Uddin, 60, son of Ayen Uddin of village Gilajhuki under Mithapukur upazila and owner of the private car Mostafizar Rahman Fizar, 40, vice-president of Dinajpur Sadar upazila unit of Jubo League were killed on the spot," the SI said. Mostafizar Rahman, son of Alhaj Yunus Ali, hailed from village Boraipur under Sadar upazila in Dinajpur. Mostafizar was returning home alone from his father-in-law's house in village Chharan under Mithapukur upazila when the tragic accident took place.

"After completing legal formalities, the bodies were handed over to their respective relatives and the process of filing a case in this connection with Mithapukur Thana was in progress," SI Ashish Kumar said. However, the family members and neighbors demanded further investigations for the accident.
