Varsity Cricket: Southern, BGC Trust register win

Southern University and BGC Trust University made a good start in the Dakhina Inter-University T20 Cricket Tournament after winning their respective matches at the Chattogram Divisional Women’s Sports Complex here on Sunday.  

Vice-Chancellor of Chattogram University Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury inaugurated the eight-team 4th version of the meet. 

Vice-Chancellor of BGC Trust University Dr Saroj Kanti Singh Hazari, General Secretary Chattogram Divisional Sports Association Sirajuddin Mohammad Alamgir and convener of the Tournament Committee Saifullah Chowdhury were also present on the occasion.
 
In the day’s first match, Southern University crushed Cuet by 92 runs while BGC Trust University beat Port City University by 10 runs.

Brief score: Southern University- 272 for 3 in 20 overs; Ripon 91, Kamrul 73, Mamun 56, Ronny 46, Tonmoy 2/50, Farhan 1/22. Cuet- 180 for 5, 20 overs; Farhan 51, Soumik 39, Sudipta 3/26,  Man of the match:  Sajjadul Haque Ripon (Southern University).
  
BGC Trust University: 104 all out in 19 overs; Tara 33, Amanul 21, Ashraf 5/17.

Port City University: 94 for 9 in 20 overs; Aslam 18, Saidul 16,  Mainul 3/18, Morshed 2/12 Player of the match: Mainul Islam (BGC Trust University)
