Mominul eyes to prepare himself for West Indies series

  • Print

Bangladesh's batsman Mominul Haque is eyeing to prepare him for the forthcoming series against West Indies through the remaining part of Bangladesh Cricket League, franchise-based four-day tournament.Tigers will be playing a fully fledged series against West Indies at their own den from next July and with no other longer version games apart from BCL, it seems to be the only place for the Test specialist to get ready for the upcoming Test series.

"As there is no other longer version game apart from BCL I will try to play it like a Test match" Mominul told reporters at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium. "At the moment I am only thinking about BCL but after it is over will think about the West Indies tour" said Mominul, who will represent East Zone in the tournament.

Second placed East Zone will take on table toppers South Zone in the crucial fifth round match at SBNS from March 17. Mominul said that they are eyeing to give their best shot as the tournament is wide open and team that can hold their nerve will be the champions.

"I think the tournament is wide open and we do have a chance to clinch it" said Mominul. "We must take this opportunity," he added. Mominul was the highest scorer after three rounds but missed the fourth round as he went to perform Umrah.

When asked whether he is eyeing to get back the slot of highest run getter, Mominul apparently looked hardly excited about it. "I won't bat to be the highest run scorer. It is a wrong approach and now it is understood by me," said Mominul.
