Bangla New Year 1425

  • Print

Pahela Baishakh is just knocking at the door. The word 'Pahela' means first and 'Baishakh' is the name of the first month of Bangla calendar. Together they mean the very first day of Baishakh. We the Bengali people celebrate the day with enormous joy and arrangements. It is one of our traditions. Every faith's and religion's people celebrate the day. Muslim, Hindu, Christian, Buddhist and all other religious people celebrate it from the core of their heart, because it's one of the significant event of our nationalism.

Every year in 14th April, the whole nation celebrates this day in various ways through assorted activities. The celebration part begins from very early in the morning. Many traditional foods and drinks are arranged there. Panta-Ilish (soaked rice and Hilsa fish) with various spicy mashed traditional vegetable is one of the remarkable food items of Bangladeshi. Our day start with these foods and afterward participates with the Mangal Shobhajatra. It's a mass procession organized by the teachers and students of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University.

Along with Pahela Baishakh celebration, this mass procession is another significant of our Bangladeshi nationalism. Pahela Baishakh is a festival, which is not based on any religious custom. It stands with the bold example of the secular identity of our people; expresses the absolute unity between Bangladeshi people, beyond various faiths, religions and races. And in 2016, UNESCO declared the festival as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.

This festival has some distinct colors, mode, tastes and dimensions. From attire to food and day long celebrations to entire people's mood - everywhere the distinct different are seen than the other festival of the country. People wear deep red color to celebrate the day - and for that the fashion houses remain month long busy. Along with this shopping malls and grocery shops are also filled with fresh Bangladeshi traditional supplies. Everywhere is seen a festive mood.

We have only four days in our hand to celebrate the 14th April, as the Bangla New Year. It's the day for all races, faiths and religions. It's the day for all the Bangladeshi to present their-own custom and tradition. In Vogue is here with some preparations and arrangements so far which are going on to celebrate 1425 Bangla New Year.
