Mizanur’s ton goes in vain as Agrani Bank beat Brothers

Agrani Bank Cricket Club defeated Brothers Union by three wickets denying Mizanur Rahman’s century of 102 runs in the 9th round match of the 12-team Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah on Monday. 

Chasing a target of 290 runs, Agrani Bank shored their winning vessel scoring 292 for 7 in 49.1 overs where Rishi Dhawan (70 off 59b; 7x4; 1x6), Azmir Ahmed (65 off 62b; 7x4; 3x6), Salman Hossain (55 off 49b; 2x4; 2x6) and Jahid Javed (55 off 49b; 2x4; 2x6) hammered a half century each and Dhiman Ghosh added 22 runs. 
Sohrawordi Shuvo got three wickets for 62 runs while Khaled Ahmed (2/52) and Alok Kapali (1/48) and Mehedi Hasan Rana (1/72) shared four wickets for the losing side. 

Sent in to bat first, Brothers scored 289 for 6 in 50 overs where centurion Mizanur shared a partnership of 200 off 35.5 overs in the opening stand with Junaid Siddique.

Mizanur played an innings of 120 balls to fire nine boundaries and three over boundaries before being caught by Mohammad Ishak off Shafiul Islam to dismiss from opening pair. 

Junaid fell short of eight runs for a century as he was caught by Azmir Ahmed off Shafiul Islam on 210/2 in 37.5 overs after hammering 92 off 103 balls with including eight boundaries and one six. 

Man of the match Shafiul Islam captured four wickets for 48 runs for Agrani Bank while Jahid Javed (1/37) and Rishi Dhawan(1/46) shared two wicket for the winners. 

Despite the day’s win, Agrani Bank remain rooted to 11th spot with six points from nine outings, recording three wins against six losses, while Brothers slipped one spot to 8th,  collecting eight points from nine matches with four wins against five losses.
