Margot wins best comedy actress
Margot Robbie has won Best Actress in a Comedy for her career-best performance in I, Tonya at the Critics' Choice Awards. The 27-year-old was visibly shocked and appeared on the verge of joyous tears as the announcement was made in Los Angeles on Thursday. Her acclaimed, versatile performance as troubled former Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding deservedly beat-out a particularly strong field.
When the announcement came, there was hardly a dry eye in The Barker Hangar, as the girl from Dalby, Queensland outclassed Hollywood elites once more. The beauty appeared truly humbled, clasping a hand to her chest in shock. She was stopped by fellow-nominee Saoirse Ronan (Lady Bird) on her way to the stage and they shared an embrace. Margot also toppled Tiffany Haddish (Girl's Trip), Zoe Kazan (The Big Sick) and Emma Stone (Battle of the Sexes) to claim the victory.
The Australian was also nominated for Best Actress, but was beaten by Frances McDormand for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Margot was looking every bit the Hollywood glamazon upon arrival at the Hangar, located at the South Side of Santa Monica Airport.
The 27-year-old was joined by husband Tom Ackerley as she stepped out at the star-studded event in a gorgeous frilly striped ensemble. Cutting a stylish figure, the I, Tonya star effused beauty in the strapless gold and black striped frock.
