Power generation from sea wave not viable: Nasrul

  • Print

Power generation from sea wave is not commercially viable and sustainable, State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid told Parliament on Thursday.

"Technology to generate electricity using the force of sea wave is expensive and it's not commercially sustainable either," he said while addressing an unstarred (written) question from Awami League MP Didarul Alam (Chittagong-4).

The state minister, however, said an assessment is being conducted to produce electricity from sea wave in the country.
He also said the power generation from sea wave is still at the assessment level in some developed countries of the world.
